About the event

Gurnaik Johal, an Observer best debut novelist for 2025, joins us in conversation to discuss his debut novel Saraswati. With the structure and ambition reminded me of The Overstory, and the empathy of Sunjeev Sahota, the beautiful storytelling of Elif Shafak, and the eco-thriller elements of Birnam Wood, it is a totally original, absorbing novel that we can't wait to place in your hands. Fans of Zadie Smith and David Mitchell eat your heart out in this interweaving story about inheritance, climate, colonialism and friendship.
