BookBar — Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 3/9/26

1. About Us

This website is owned and operated by BookBar Ltd, company number 384797432

This website offers visitors the opportunity to learn about BookBar and to browse and purchase books, event tickets, memberships, and other products and services (the "Services").

By accessing or using this website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"), together with our Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

To use this website and/or receive our Services, you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. You may not use this website if doing so would be unlawful in your country or under any law or regulation that applies to you.

3. Orders and Contracts

When you place an order, you confirm that you have read the full product or listing description before committing to buy. A legally binding contract is formed once you complete checkout and payment is confirmed, subject to our right to decline or cancel an order (for example, in cases of pricing errors, stock unavailability, or suspected fraud).

4. Pricing

Prices for products and Services are as shown on the website at the time of order. We reserve the right to change prices at any time and to correct pricing errors, including after an order has been placed but before dispatch, in which case we will contact you before proceeding. Further information on pricing, delivery costs and applicable tax is available on our payments page.

5. Subscriptions and Recurring Payments

Certain Services, including Book Club memberships, are offered on a recurring subscription basis. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method automatically on each renewal date, at the price shown at the time of your subscription, until you cancel.

You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time by contacting hello@bookbaruk.com. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law.

Where a subscription includes physical items (for example, Book Club book deliveries), items are dispatched according to the schedule described at the point of purchase and are not necessarily processed on the date payment is taken.

6. Delivery

We aim to dispatch orders within 5 working days, except where a title is not yet published or is temporarily out of stock with our supplier, in which case we will let you know. Book Club selections are typically delivered in the weeks leading up to the associated event, as described at the point of purchase.

7. Your Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations)

If you are a consumer in the UK, you generally have the right to cancel an order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Certain items may be excluded from this right (for example, digital content once downloading has begun, or personalised/perishable goods)

To cancel, contact us at hello@bookbaruk.com within the applicable period. You will need to return the item at your own cost unless we have agreed otherwise, and we will refund you within 14 days of receiving the returned item or evidence that it has been sent back.

This section is in addition to, and does not replace, your rights under Section 8 below.

8. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

If an item you receive is faulty, damaged, or not as described, contact hello@bookbaruk.com and we will arrange a replacement, exchange, or refund as appropriate. This is in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which are not affected by anything in these Terms.

Where we accept a valid warranty or quality claim, we will repair or replace the item, or, where that is not possible within a reasonable time, provide a full refund.

9. Returns — General

Except where Sections 7 or 8 apply, returns are accepted only in the country in which the item was originally purchased. To arrange a return, contact hello@bookbaruk.com.

10. Changes to the Website and Services

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website or Services, or impose limits on them, at any time and without prior notice. This does not affect orders you have already placed, or subscription periods you have already paid for.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including software, text, graphics, logos, trademarks, photographs, audio, video, and related intellectual property rights — is the property of BookBar or its licensors, except where otherwise stated. Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from this content without our prior written consent.

12. Content You Submit

If you upload or submit any content to the website (for example, reviews, images, or comments), you confirm that you own the necessary rights to that content or have permission to share it, and you agree that it may be displayed publicly on the website.

13. Suspending or Ending Your Access

We may suspend or end your access to the Services if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the Services, and request cancellation of your account or any subscription, at any time. Where you have an active subscription, cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, as set out in Section 5.

14. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, BookBar is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as loss of profits or data) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website or Services. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

To the extent permitted by law, BookBar is not responsible for errors or inaccuracies in content, or for unauthorised access to our systems or the personal information stored on them, provided we have taken reasonable security measures.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify BookBar against reasonable claims, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your misuse of the website or breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own breach or negligence.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by email or a notice on the website). Continued use of the website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the website.

17. Marketing Communications

With your consent, we may send you promotional messages by email, post, or other means you have provided (including SMS or phone, where you have agreed to this). You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link in our emails. This does not affect service messages relating to orders or subscriptions you hold with us.

18. Privacy

Personal information you provide to us is used in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at [link], and in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We do not share your information with third parties except as described in that policy.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

20. Contact Us

If you have any questions about an order, these Terms, or anything else, please contact us at hello@bookbaruk.com, quoting your order number where relevant.

Thank you for shopping with BookBar.
