BookBar Presents... Katie Kitamura in conversation with Caleb Azumah Nelson

We are so excited to share our very first events at our new Chelsea shop! We're kicking off our programme at BookBar's flagship events space with a conversation between two of our most-loved authors: Katie Kitamura and Caleb Azumah Nelson.

We loved Katie's previous novel Intimacies, a brilliant novel about language and translation, communication and miscommunication set in the Hague, so we've been so excited to recommend her new novel Audition. In Audition, an actor meets up with a young man in a restaurant, asking the reader to question who this woman is, and what her relationship to this younger man might be. A lover, a son, a mentee? This tricksy, exquisite novel explores our relationships to one another and ourselves, and our daily acts of performance. It's been glowingly reviewed by The Guardian, the New York Times and the FT called it 'a lightning bolt of a novel'.
