About the event
Oisín McKenna, the author of last summer's hottest novel, Evenings and Weekends, joins us in conversation with author and former BookBar bookseller Francesca Reece.
Set over a sweltering Summer weekend in London, we follow a cast of characters: Maggie, 30, pregnant, priced out and exhausted by the city, preparing to move back to the small town she fought hard to escape with her partner Ed, who has some soul searching of his own to do. Maggie's best friend Phil, in a complicated love triangle with his flatmate and his flatmate's boyfriend, and doing anything to hide his unhappiness from his mum, who is on her way to London share some life-changing news. This is the 'London novel' for the rental generation, one that captures the exhausting and exhilarating realities of life in one of the world's least affordable cities, packed with heart, hope, love and friendship.
