About the event
Author of smash hit novel Not Working, Lisa Owens, returns with a witty, raw and honest book, Natural Disaster, and we can't wait to host her at our Highbury shop.
Set over the course of one day as a woman attempts to spend the last day of her parental leave having a memorable day out with her children, you'll laugh and grimace in recognition. With writing that is genuinely funny, cannily observant and so empathetic, Lisa Owens captures the emotional contortions that women have to make, the paradoxes and pains of trying to be everything to everyone, and the physical and emotional flexes of being a parent so beautifully and with such wit and tenderness. The fact that it is set over one day yet plausibly covers so much ground is so clever, and Lisa's observations on marriage and family are so wise and well-observed.
