About the event
Historical fiction fans, this one's for you! We are looking forward to welcoming debut novelist Phil Melanson to our original Highbury shop to discuss his book Florenzer. With elegant writing and the richly imagined 15th-Century Florence at its centre, you'll be transported by this exquisite writing to rival Maggie O'Farrell.
Phil will be joined in conversation by author and poet Rebecca Perry.
The bar will open at 6:30pm with the conversation starting at 7:00pm.
About Florenzer
15th-century Florence: where the river runs red with slaughterhouse blood and bronze statues glow in every square. Into its fold comes a young Leonardo da Vinci. Wayward and dreamy, he is different from the other artist's apprentices, drawn to what passes behind veils of steam in the baths and along the moonlit banks of the Arno.
Such habits have long belonged to Florence, but they carry risk in a city where anonymous accusations slipped…
