BookBar BookClub: The Crane Wife with CJ Hauser
Sign up, receive your book in advance of the book club with plenty of time to read it, send in the questions and discussion points you'd like us to talk about, and join a vitual interview with the author, in which we'll discuss the book.
We can't wait to welcome CJ Hauser to discuss their frank and intimate memoir told through essays about living life outside of others' and your own expectations.
Told in a series of essays, CJ lets go of 'how life was supposed to be' and goes looking for more honest ways of living. They kiss internet strangers, officiate a wedding, visits a fertility clinic. They read Rebecca in the house their new boyfriend shared with his ex-wife and rewinds Katharine Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story to learn how not to lose yourself in a relationship. They write about friends and lovers, ghosts and robots, grief and heartbreak, blood family and chosen family, and ask what more expansive definitions of love might offer us all. The Crane Wife is a book for anyone whose life doesn't look the way they thought it would; for anyone trying, if sometimes failing, to find joy in the unexpected.
