She's one of the UK's most loved contemporary novelists and now she's joining us for the BookBar BookClub. We can't wait to welcome Maggie O'Farrell to discuss her Women's Prize-shortlisted novel The Marriage Portrait.
The author of Hamnet returns with a superbly atmospheric historical novel. A masterclass in tension, The Marriage Portrait follows Lucrezia de Medici, the overlooked third daughter of one of history's most powerful families. Married against her will to the Duke of Ferrera, Lucrezia becomes increasingly convinced that her new husband is planning to kill her, as the plot gets darker and more disturbing. O'Farrell has written a stylish historical thriller with atmosphere to rival Hilary Mantel and tension akin to Sarah Moss, about a woman who's proximity to power places her in mortal danger.
